System State Restore

Q: I can restore the System State, so why do I need to use UMove?

A: When you restore the System State you are restoring the entire operating system - not just AD - and any system instability or viruses will likely carry over.

Microsoft does not support restoring the System State backup from one computer to a second computer of a different make, model, or hardware configuration (Q249694).

Only UMove can extract the AD database from the backed-up System State (.BKF file) and install it on any type of hardware. By loading only the AD files it gives you the quickest and safest possible way to recover your AD database.
